Smartphone is basically a label given to a phone which is more like a computer. Smartphones have functions like browsing internet, take and edit pictures and videos, play games, send emails etc. It is an advanced kind of phone.

Smartphones can have different operating systems. Operating system is the main software which runs all the other softwares. For example Windows 7 is an operating system for personal Computers like laptops.

Smartphones have different operating systems than personal computers. Examples are Android, iOS, Blackberry OS, Windows phone, symbian OS, Palm OS and many more. Nowadays Android and iOS are the only major operating systems for smartphones. Companies like Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei and most other companies use Android in their smartphones. A smartphone which has Android in it is an Android phone. iPhone uses iOS. Blackberry used Blackberry OS. Nokia had Lumia phones which used Windows phone. There are many more but nowadays only Android and iOS are popular.
